The kids had swimming this morning. We switched to a slightly earlier time and had a new instructor. They weren’t quite sure what to make of him. Seemed to have fun in class though.
Afterward they had a very good time as the Arizona Science Center. The Science Center is a fantastic place but it is usually interacting with a lot of displays. Today we happened to get the timing right, completely be chance, a were there when a lot of hands-on demonstrations were going on. First the kids had a lot of fun playing volleyball on the blue screen. After we were finished playing the volleyball against the computer robot, we went to the cow eye dissection demonstration. They take apart a cow’s eye and explain the parts, how they differ in humans and talk about their functions. The kids all thought it was fun to touch the cow’s dissected eyeball. We also saw the digestion demonstration, where we were able to see how the body digests food. D shouted out most the answers include the answer to ‘where does it from there?’ The answer to which was poop. The woman doing the demo laughed that usually no one is willing to answer that one. Ah leave it to our kid to proudly shout it out. As we were leaving our handson field trip to the science center, we were given some fake snot. They had a great time mixing it together and then squishing it between their fingers. Each taking home a bag of gooey, slippery snot was the perfect way to end our day.
(science center pictures to follow . . . OK pictures are up in the gallery now)
