Mesa Southwest Museum had homeschoolers in for a few special presentations. Most of the things they had this year dealt with the body. So we went and played with the body exhibits. The kids found a touch screen that was cool to play with. They enjoyed watching the screen react to the slightest touch. We also played on the shaking skate board. The skate board would shake and giggle to show us about our body and balance. The room was full with other homeschoolers so it was hard to see all the exhibits. We did see some interesting things about blood pressure and your circulatory system. We decided to start at the top of the museum and work our way down. The first thing we came to was a bone puzzle, where we could cut and paste the bones onto a body outline. The kids thought it was fun but a little simple (B, who’s 2,Panning for gold found it challenging). As we worked our way down through the regular exhibits until we found another cut, color and paste section. This time the exercise was about our organs and how bones heal. We didn’t get to do the museums underwater breathing exercise, because we had to leave soon to go to gymnastics. Everyone wanted to go to the gold panning area. D wanted to collect enough gold to trade for a Transformer. After we got really went panning for gold it was time to go home and change before gymnastics and that is how we spent our afternoon.
