We got a late start to California on Sunday. Daddy had a photo shoot in the middle of the day. So we didn’t hit the road until almost dinner time. The kids are pretty good travelers. It’s only about a five or six hour drive but still, not too bad.
We went to Legoland on Monday with some friends from one of our homeschool groups. We were registered as a school and started by doing a little workshop on gears. This was our first time at Legoland. It’s like Disney for active kids. There are firetrucks you can race by pumping the handlebars. On the pirate boat ride you have to spin the crank to make your water squirter spray and then you can aim at people. The little driver area actually lets them drive; not like autotopia on tracks, but just drive little bitty cars. There was not as much to do with our 2-year-and-51-week old as we’d hoped. She was kind of sad at the end of the day but an ice cream seemed to perk her up.
The boys had a wonderful time on all the rides we got to. I think we covered about 1/10th of the park, by the time we did the workshop and lunch there wasn’t much time until the park closed at 5. I think they had almost as much time in the store. Everyone had birthday money from grandpa and some lego loving boys had a very, very good time trying to figure out how to spent it.
