Successful Dating

November 24th, 2007 · No Comments

We don’t get to go on dates nearly as often as we’d like to; it’s difficult juggling three kids. But no matter how difficult, it’s important to get some one-on-one time. Important elements of a date - be spontaneous, cuddle, hold hands, make sure it’s a movie you both want to see, share dinner afterward while discussing the movie. Last month C and I went to see Under Dog and then had Greek food. Today D and I went to see Enchanted and then had Chinese.

We both agreed it was a good movie. He noticed elements of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella and liked that they’d made up their own characters as well. We have some books that are adaptations of fairy tales so we talked about those. Over dinner we moved from discussing the plot to how they actually make movies like that. How did the wicked step-mother grow into a dragon? How do they make a dragon dangle someone over the side of a building?  So talk turned to how movies are just individual pictures moving really fast, digital editing, and blue screens.

So a movie, shared popcorn, holding hands, great discussion over dinner, what more do you need on a date?
