Overheard Conversation

Posted by on February 27, 2008

So I have about five drafts of posts I haven’t gotten done lately. Needs get them written . . . now on with the post.

Today was park day for our homeschool group. We went with three kids and came home with five. On the car ride home I heard the best vocabulary building discussion.

child 1: something, something [I missed that park] sucks . . . doesn’t it?

child 2: no it doesn’t

child 1: what does sucks mean?

child 2: that something is bad

child 1: oh, like bummer

child 3: or damn it

child 1: or oh man

You get the idea. They then discussed whether or not they were allowed to swear at home and the rules about swearing, including words that can be used instead. In that unschooling, open to everything way, they were totally earnest. It was so funny to overhear.
