Gladiators!

D's bird's eye viewthe obstacle course

For those of you who are about to fight, we salute you…………………The boys gymnastics gym had a sleep over a few weeks ago. It was boys only, no girls – even mommy had to stay home. Our boys thought it was a fun filled night: friends, games and pizza. The night started with a little bit of free time. 30 or 40 boys from 5 to 17 ran loose in the gym, jumping, leaping and flying off the equipment. I never would have believed it if I wasn’t there when the boys called out the names for their foam pit fight teams as “home schoolers against schoolers.” Free time ended soon after and the games began. The coaches put together a few games to celebrate the gladiators of old. The boys got to play dodgeball, C thought that was really fun. They ran an obstacle course through the gymnastic equipment, D ran the fastest in his group. There was boxing with big gloves, neither of the boys seemed to care for that. The boys thought that having a pillow fight on a balance beam over the foam pit was really cool. But the best thing that they had and both boys agree was when they got to fire the paintball gun at some of the older gymnasts. I was afraid the the kids would be firing paint balls at each other, that could have only ended badly. Our boys said that firing the paint ball guns was the best!

As I took C home at about 11 I could tell he had a good time. His face was covered in pizza sauce and his hair was tossed this was and that from playing. As we picked up D glassy eyed and smiling early the next morning, I knew they would want to do this again.
