So What Do You Do All Day?

September 18th, 2008 · No Comments

We get asked a lot what we do all day. Usually by people trying to figure out how an entire day home with small children doesn’t involve duct tape. I’d meant to take notes so I could actually remember ALL of it, but this should be close enough.

Woke up and played farm with blocks and wooden animals. Then the boys brought out legos to while daddy made breakfast. After eating daddy took the kids to the post office to mail a package. When everyone got home the boys got on the computer while B wrote a story about nail polish in pink pen. We’ve been meaning to get the kids bouncing around different sites again. We brought up the BBC kids education site and let them play around there. C spent quite a bit of time there while D did a chapter of Click n’Read Phonics (we got our subscription through the homeschool buyers co-op; if you homeschool and don’t know about it, check it out). Our idea had been for them to switch but D started playing the games on the BBC site while C went to build and ABC puzzle with B.

Then both boys played legos. They were building mad scientists by using various body parts of different sets and setting up labs for them to work in. Legos always occupies a large part of their day. While they were busy I read No Matter What to B and then she played in the toy kitchen. After lunch, C did a little Click n’Read phonics, but didn’t want to finish the chapter while D read a little Star Wars: The Clone Wars to daddy. B and I looked through some games on Room 108 that I just learned about. She liked naming body parts in one of the science areas (arm, leg, neck type stuff) and the matching shapes in art. D liked putting together the organs in a skeleton - when you got them right it danced.

After than we head to  . . . a tatoo shop. Yep, daddy is thinking about getting another tatoo and the kids wanted to go see. They were disappointed he was only looking at designs; they really wanted to see him get one.
