More Fun With Books…Banned Books

We’re still fighting off whatever uck has gone around. It comes and goes and has been around for weeks. I decided we should take today slow and just hang out. We still have quite a few books from the library from the 1001 Children’s Books You Must Read Before Growing Up that we haven’t read … Continue reading »

Happy Day

We’re pretty low key about holidays around here. I’ve never  been big on the desperation to find a gift, plan a date, do something because you HAVE to. I’d rather see something they like or spend time because I want to. Valentines is one I’ve never really understood – the mad rush of – usually – men … Continue reading »

What is there to do around here?

Mostly this blog is a way for me to keep track of some of the things the kids do. Otherwise it is too easy to look back and only have vague recollections of the big stuff. But I get asked about homeschooling frequently – questions from friends, acquaintances that are thinking about homeschooling or the … Continue reading »

Big Girl and Bad Boys

We seem to have almost settled into a routine lately, which is unusual for us. Monday play practice and D&D; Tuesday homeschool enrichment and akido; Wednesday homeschool park day; Thursday homeschool enrichment and akido; Friday free for all. Unusual for us. This weekend was a bit more our usual – random and eclectic and all … Continue reading »

Met up with friends yesterday at the Arizona Museum of Natural History. It has all sorts of things from this regions from dinosaurs of the southwest to an area to learn about gold panning. Always a lot of fun.

…Minecraft…

The last few days have been brought to us by Minecraft. Don’t know it? Look it up. Evidently it’s obsession worthy. Well two out of three are obsessed anyway. Littlest has played dress up, made art, played with her dolls, thought about what she’d like to do for valentines, helped me cook, watched Dinosaur Train … Continue reading »

Arizona SciTech Festival Going On Now

I’m trying to write a post to answer the very common question, what is there to do as homeschoolers? I have a friend that is new to homeschooling and I get asked by people who are thinking about trying it. So far the post includes only the very obvious – and I’m not sure I’ve … Continue reading »

Artistic Endeavors

So C is with grandma and papa for the weekend. I’m sure they are busy adventuring. Meanwhile biggest and littlest are evidently feeling artsy. After a few hours on skype playing minecraft with friends, D started watching youtube videos of drawing tutorials. For a kid who never even wanted to hold a crayon or finger … Continue reading »

Today

What do you do all day is probably the most common question I hear. And every day can be different. Compared to people who have full curriculum and do it at home we are very unschool. Compared to some unschooler the fact that I make suggestions or that they attend a homeschool enrichment program run … Continue reading »

Too Much To Decide

Monday was full of fun and kids and noise and all sorts of different homeschoolers. Arizona Homeschool Theater held tryout for the spring play. Last fall D was in Romeo and Juliet. He joined the cast very late because they were looking for another boy and we have friends that have performed with them through … Continue reading »
