A trip to the teacher’s supply store

Some unschooly type people would be horrified at using actual teaching supplies at home. I understand the belief that they can learn more about animals from a trip to the zoo or raising a pet than by filling out a worksheet. But I’m not so hard core that I don’t recognize that there are some … Continue reading »

Random takes from the month

OK random moments from the month that I’d meant to blog but forgot about until we uploaded some photos. We graphed gummy bears. Yummy math. We graphed by color. Even our 2 yo got it with help. We colored in the number of each color. The best part of the project was eating the manipulatives. … Continue reading »

Making busy work

Gymnastics has moved from 5- 8 PM to 3:30 – 6:30 for the summer. Makes a big difference. We had time to play – plays, dance, read books. I took C and B with me to drop off D for gymnastics. Then we headed to Trader Joe’s for ridiculous amounts of juice to make popsicles … Continue reading »

Destruction leads to discoveries

We are still working on the house. Not only are we doing the work ourselves but we work from home and homeschool three children. The homeschooling part only matters because it means they are, well, at home. As a homeschooling father of four said to us one day, “It said assembly in two to three … Continue reading »
